Court sends Nigerian senator to prison
A federal court in Lagos has remanded Peter Nwaoboshi, a Peoples Democratic Party senator representing Delta North, in Ikoyi prison.
Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi today arrived the court premises in a grand solidarity by his supporters who strongly believe in him.
Senator Nwaboshi, the lawmaker representing Delta North district at the National Assembly, was arraigned by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday on two counts of alleged fraud.
Mr. Nwaoboshi has been having a secret battle with Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa over plans to stop him from returning to the red chamber in 2019.
He was arrested by the anti corruption agency last week following the corrupt manner he allegedly purchased a building owned by Delta State, “Guinea House” in Lagos state among other corrupt related issues.
Mohammed Idris, the judge, ruled that Mr. Nwaoboshi be remanded till Friday pending the hearing of the senator’s bail application.
Mr. Nwaoboshi was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a two-count charge of money laundering.
Before his arraignment, the senator was kept in EFCC’s custody in Abuja.
