Legendary Raggae Artiste, Ras Kimono Dies At 60

legendary musician, Ras Kimono is dead. Ras Kimono passed away yesterday been 10th June, on Sunday morning in Lagos.

Metro News reports that he had plans to travel to the United States on Saturday night, but complained  that he was not feeling too strong to leave that night.

later in the night the illness became serious that he was rushed to the hospital in ikeja,Lagos but later transferred to lagoon Hospital on the island.

the incident was confirmed by music veterans, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina peter

legendary musician Ras Kimono was one the best Veterans from the 90’s and who continued to keep the fire burning on the music scene, mentoring and contributing to the Nigerian Entertainment industry.

Ekeleke Elumelu, fomusly known with his stage name Ras Kimono was born in Delta State, Nigeria. he started his music career,as a student of Gbenoba Secondary school Agbor and later as a member of the legendary Jastix Reggae Ital, alongside Majek Fashek, Amos McRoy Jegg and Black Osagie.

Ras Kimono music was greatly influenced by the poverty,inequality and hardship he witnessed in his early life. he further released his debut album solo “under pressure” on the premier Music Label in 1988, which propelled him to instant continental stardom. the album had hit like “under pressure” Rasta get jail” and the massive hit Rhumba Style”.
